FIFA 12 is a fast-paced soccer game for the Android platform.

If you're a soccer fan, chances are that you've heard of the long-running "FIFA" franchise. The game is sponsored by the famous soccer organization, and it's been in production for decades. Stemming from older generation consoles, FIFA 12 is the first soccer game for mobile devices that has convincing gameplay mechanics as well as league management. For awhile, FIFA games have been made free to play, which is a departure from earlier games in the franchise. In part, this is to cut down on piracy, and it's also to make it a more profitable model. Players can purchase virtual currency to get ahead in the game and get more customizations than ever before.

So, how does FIFA 12 stack up to its existing Android competitors? For starters, the control scheme completely blew us away. Soccer games are known for having clunky controls due to the vast array of movements that can be performed at a moment's notice. FIFA 12, however, uses gestures to control gameplay, reducing the need for pesky buttons all around the screen. Players can also take advantage of a full circle, 360 degree view as they play. The physics are reasonably realistic, although there can be some very suspect physics at some points.

Unfortunately, FIFA 12's graphics sometimes prove to be ahead of their time. While the graphics are amazing when they do work out, they can sometimes bring the whole game to a crawl because they're so demanding. Newer Android devices shouldn't have as much of a problem with this, but it's still worth mentioning.

All-in-all, FIFA 12 is a solid release. It's a lot of fun for soccer fans and even for people not as familiar with the game. If you're willing to put up with some advertising for in-app purchases and rare slowdowns due to intensive graphics demands, you can't go wrong with this gorgeous soccer game.
